We are exploring whether two watches can recognise a nearby encounter during an active session. An Apple Watch and Wear OS project still under validation.

The prototype runs a visible foreground session that you start and stop on the watch.
It observes Bluetooth signals between test devices. It does not identify people or guarantee detection of every encounter.
Bodies, surroundings and watch models affect the signal. It does not measure exact distances or imply universal compatibility.
Wear OS advertises the service and acts as a BLE/GATT server; Apple Watch searches as a client. The design is asymmetric: watchOS does not offer the custom peripheral role used by this prototype.
RSSI samples, variation and duration are studied. Identifiers rotate every 15 minutes without transmitting names, email addresses or phone numbers. Local CSV logs allow session comparison and calibration, with export from Apple Watch.
Work is validated on real hardware. Background restrictions affect both systems; current tests require active sessions.
